Survivors of Suicide Loss (SOSL)

Tuesday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm | 2154 Loop 337 New Braunfels TX 78130

The group will be a safe place to share your grief journey and pain in the loss of your loved one due to suicide. We will build a community with those left behind after a suicide loss that share this common bond of loss trusting that God’s Word is sovereign in teaching us how to heal with His love.

This group is sponsored by the Oakwood Counseling Center with Eva Lott, Director, and was born out of a need from others who walked this journey in the GriefShare program that is sponsored by the OCC. Terry and Mary Dean Richards prayerfully considered sharing their testimony and leading this group to build a community specific to loss by suicide.

Here you will find compassionate, caring people who will travel alongside you on this journey. They have walked this journey ahead of you and will be there to guide and support those attending with a book study, “Melissa: A Father’s Lessons from a Daughter’s Suicide” by Frank Page.

Length: 13 weeks Cost: $20 per person

(Mens Class) The Book of Ephesians

Thursday, 6:00am - 8:30am | 2154 Loop 337 New Braunfels TX 78130

Study by J.D. Greear. Has it ever dawned on you that nothing has ever dawned on God? He knew before the world began that His people would face hardship, so He gave us His Word. The Book of Ephesians is a survival manual—it equips believers to thrive in a world that hates the message of Jesus Christ. Paul the Apostle writes to encourage believers to live well—we've been lifted from the graveyard of sin and called to shout the gospel into the darkened world. Pastor and author J.D. Greear walks through the powerful words of Paul. In 9 sessions, J.D. digs into the text of Ephesians verse-by-verse and challenges believers to live out the gospel. If the people of your city, of your school, of your family are going to hear the gospel, it's going to be from your mouth. Encounter Ephesians, and get swept up into the story of Jesus.

Spiritual Growth by the Book: A Systematic Theology Study

Wednesday, 6:00pm - 7:30pm | 2154 Loop 337 New Braunfels TX 78130

What is systematic theology? According to Dr. Wayne Grudem, “Systematic theology is any study that answers the question, “What does the whole Bible teach us today?” about any given topic. This definition indicates that systematic theology involves collecting and understanding all the relevant passages in the Bible on various topics and then summarizing their teachings clearly so that we know what to believe about each topic.” In this class we will be studying such topics as: the Bible, God (His attributes, names, will, works, and ways), the Trinity, the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, angels/Satan/demons, man, sin, salvation, the church, end-times, etc.

Teacher: Pastor Dale Bynum. Length: 17 weeks. Cost: $20 per person. Start Date: Wednesday evening 1/17/18 through 5/16/18 @ 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Location: Adult Education Bldg. Room 104
