Daniel Hooker volunteers with our Mark 9 Special Needs ministry.

Describe how GOD called you to this ministry?

God had me with 2nd graders before I found Mark 9, but as soon as I was in the program, I knew this is where God wanted me. I felt this calling to be fully committed to this ministry. Through my helping for 3 years, I've realized that I want to be a special education teacher and show the love of God to as many kids as I can.

How has GOD equipped you to serve in this ministry?

God has given me a servant's heart and patience. I'm able to work with kids and not get frustrated. I've been able to work with kids with all sorts of different needs, from just a little help focusing in the class, to extreme cases of autism and down syndrome.

What has been your most meaningful or significant moment serving in this ministry?

Seeing all the kids grow up and how they have changed and improved. I've also had the chance of growing closer to a lot of the families. It's an amazing feeling taking care of God's children, especially the ones most people tend to overlook because they are "different". We are all the same and do the exact same things, it just takes a little longer for them.
